and

Based in Nashville all of the members of Take 6 are classically trained.
Initially a quartet known as the Sounds Of Distinction then the Alliance, this highly rated ensemble first formed at the Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama.
The group evolved into a six-piece acappella gospel group whose harmonies have been described as the greatest ever by Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys amongst others.
The combination of their Seventh-day Adventist beliefs and their appreciation of jazz and R & B enabled them to make inroads into both record-buying markets, winning Grammies for best Soul Gospel and best Jazz Vocal categories.
Take 6's albums have varied over the years between pure acapella to soothing soul music releases.
Their first album, entitled 'Dooo Be Doo Wop Bop!', was released on Reprise Records in 1988.
Their 1990 appearance with K.D.Lang in the movie 'Dick Tracy' singing 'Ridin The Rails' gave them further valuable exposure.
Take 6 were involved in Spike Lee's movie soundtrack to the film 'Do The Right Thing'.
Additionally, they have recorded with Dianne Reeves, Quincy Jones ('Back On The Block') and Joe Sample (on the album 'Spellbound' performing 'U-Turn').
'Join The Band' marked a new direction for the group as it incorporated live musicians including Greg Phillinganes, Gerald Albright and Herbie Hancock.
It also featured lead vocals from Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and a rap from Queen Latifah.
Take 6 returned in 2002, with the album 'Beautiful World' on Warner Brothers, produced by bass player, Marcus Miller.
'Feels Good' was the light of day in 2006, which was followed by 'The Standard' in 2008, an album of various interpretations of musical evergreens.
